The In Honor of Our Troops (IHOOT) Foundation was established (9) years ago in Washington, D.C. during the early years of the Global War on Terrorism (GWOT).  Founders, former Marine Corps officer Philip Strambler and retired Army Staff Sergeant Garon Boyd were humbled when they discovered the difficult road ahead for those heroes returning for treatment and rehabilitation.  They realized that although America knew that military men and women were losing their lives in combat, they were unaware of the difficult and painful transition from able-bodied Warriors to permanently disabled Veterans.

Determined to make others aware and garner support to honor those that fought for us, the Founders began developing programs and activities to benefit Wounded Warriors. Foundation initiatives have grown from a simple awareness campaign in 2002 through an annual golf tournament to the progression of several major programs today.  IHOOT became an exempt organization under Section 501(c) (3) of the Internal Revenue Code in September 2009.
